Another Check Off, or is that On, the Bucket List

Recently Matt started working in eastern Ohio.  He leaves Sunday evening or Monday morning and then we see him again Thursday or Friday.  They goodness for cell phone, Skype and words With Friends. We don't enjoy being apart, but we are so grateful that he has been blessed with the opportunity to keep working. We've been separated for weeks at a time in the past so this isn't as bad.  It looks like he is finished here in south central PA.  When we moved here we had hoped it would be for five or six years, its only been a little over a year.  We've learned that plans can change and anythings possible when it comes to a construction project. We've been told to stay put for now, because it's too early to know if the current proposed project will happen or not.  Survey begins next week and it may be a month or two before we know for sure where we'll be next. We just keep plugging along and try our best to stay in the present and not worry too much over the future.

We have really enjoyed this area, but we feel there is so much more to be experienced and discovered.  We have a list of things we'd better get done just in case we do end up moving on.

It always surprises me that people have a hard time believing that we're really into trying new places and new things. Sometimes it's about being nice, but most often we really would like to experience something new.  We can always use a little culture and class in our lives. About a month ago our friend Lynn asked if we were serious about going to the symphony the next time he and his wife went. Of course.  Not something we would do every weekend, but why not, especially if its at THE Kennedy Center.

Friday night we accompanied the Peiffer's and Cassie, a girl in our ward who will soon be leaving for Brazil on her mission, to DC to hear the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.  Lynn and Joan served missions in Austria and Lynn has a special love of Mozart. The concert began with some selected  songs from Franz Schubert, most were quite tragic, but who would know unless you speak German or know the story behind the song.  There was one about a man trying to catch a fish and how the stream was too clear and so he had to muddy he water to catch the fish. It was sung in German, which I could understand most of, but only because I studied ahead of time. The opera singer was so dignified and proper and I almost started laughing, fortunately I did not.  The music really was beautiful.

There was a Nordic Ship about the size of half a football field that was constructed of button down shirts in the lobby.  Pretty incredible.

P.S. Next the on the list is The Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C..  Fingers crossed. I really want to do it as a family and it wouldn't be the same if Matt can't make it. I was hoping to be able to experience it with my parents, but they get to be home for the birth of Kandyce's baby. We hope they'll visit in May.
