12 Days of Christmas

We decided to use the rest of our YW budget and do the twelve days of Christmas for our young women. We spent the last month looking for just the right gifts. Yesterday was the 12th day and time to hand out our bags so they could get started. Mother Nature had other things in mind. We had an ice storm and church was canceled. Once the roads were safe it took us five hours to deliver what we could. we have two more deliveries today. So much for our day of rest.

It was an eye opening experience. I learned alot about our young women as I went to their homes. I was better able to understand some of the challenges they face. I counted my blessings.
(The opening is from Oma and then Matt wrote most of he rest while I acted as scribe.)

The twelve days of Christmas gifts presented long ago,
Were creative and exciting and made a lovely show-
To let you know we care for you, we vowed to do the same,
But when we made our shopping trips, we darn near went insane.

We found no maids a-milking, they don't do that no more-
We found no Lords a-leaping, at Gap or Penney's store.
We couldn't even find French Hens, and so we faced the fact,
We'd have to substitute some things, to make our gifts "class act."

So, keep a watch for number one and two and three and four,
With each small gift, we send our love,
best wishes to you and more.

On the first day of Christmas
My YW leaders gave to me,
Brightly colored gifts and such.
In a bag from “Old Navy.”

It is the season to receive and give
the sisters were heard to say.
Enjoy the spirit of love and cheer,
but open only one each day.

Journal
On the second day of Christmas
we start an inward look.
We count the things that matter most
and write them in a book.

The Lord is good, the Lord is kind.
It’s hard to count the ways,
but in this journal e can write
how He blesses us each day.

Torch Pendant
Day three arrived with another gift
and thoughts of Christmas time.
A reminder that his daughters strong
should let their light so shine.

When others your acts shall see.
they’ll remember the Lord above.
The flame stands for truth and righteousness
and is a symbol of His love.

Hershey Bar
Day four has come and the Christmas mood
is both sublime and sweet.
To remind us of our Savior’s love,
this time we get a treat.

An unlikely setting, the stable the hay
a manger for his birth.
All according to our Father’s plan,
a Savior, for you are of great worth.

Glow Bracelet
Christmas thoughts and prayers abound
for now it is day five.
The Lord is good, the gospel’s true.
It’s great to be alive.

The light of Christ to us is given
to make the path more bright.
Our conscience’ guide to help know
and make our choices right.

The sixth day of Christmas arrives,
the season of joy is here.
Let’s emphasize the need for hope
laughter and some cheer.

Jesus taught, our neighbors we should serve,
and go the extra mile.
Let’s not whine, let’s not pout,
let’s do it with a smile.

Jewelry
A gift to you each day is come
and now it is day seven.
We celebrate our Savior’s birth,
our thoughts are turned to heaven.

More precious than the greatest jewels,
more valuable than gold,
the worth of souls is great to God,
He wants you in his fold.

Rubik’s Cube
The 8th day of Christmas comes
again we must resolve,
to meet life's challenges each day.
It’s puzzles we must solve.

But e are not alone as we strive,
the Lord is by our side.
The Holy Ghost will will help us through
and be our constant guide.

Pocket Bac
On the 9th day of Christmas,
my leaders gave to me,
a simple gift, a reminder of
the power in purity.

With chaste thoughts and deeds
we free ourselves from Satan’s chains and bands.
Truly freedom will be mine
with pure thoughts and clean hands.

Pocket Planner
Day ten is here it quickly came
and now I know I can
achieve our Father’s purpose in me, but I must have a plan.

It’s not by chance greatness is obtained,
measured work along the way.
I’ll schedule and I’ll write my goals
and plan them day by day.

Treasure Tin
The 11th day of Christmas,
I will praise and trust the Lord.
I know His generosity,
my efforts He does reward.

Obedience brings forth blessings,
hidden treasures from above.
Unexpected gifts from Him,
that demonstrate His love.

Framed Theme
The 12th day of Christmas
is really just a start,
when the pure love of Christ
dwells forever in your heart.

Be strong, have courage, be not afraid.
You are never left alone.
A loving Father has shown the way
to reach our eternal home.
