Most Fridays we have some kind of outing we can attend. Some of the outings are more educational and some are just for fun.
Recently we were able to go to Gettysburg for the "Leadership and the 6th Wisconsin Infantry" educational tour. Hannah wasn't really interested in going and tried to talk me out of it until she learned that a few friends she'd met online through her classes were going.
It's always a great day when you can get your teenager to admit that they had more fun than they thought they would have.
Our ranger guide, Matt A., absolutely made the day. He engaged all of the students from the 4th graders through the High School kids. He was able to get each of the kids participate and was a good judge of pushing their comfort levels, but not to the point of making them too uncomfortable. He dealt with those who "know it all" and want to answer every question without shutting them down and allowed everyone to participate.
For the adults he was full of rock and roll references and was entertaining and educational on all levels. It was evident that he really knew a lot of history and loved his job.
We couldn't have picked a better day. It was the perfect fall day, cool, but not cold, leaves falling, sky blue.
Hannah is always so thrilled with my picture taking.
Afterwards Hannah chose meeting a few friends for lunch over the outlets and shopping. All in all a great outing.
