The 42nd National Apple Harvest Festival

One advantage to not knowing how long you might be in a place is the desire to do as much as you can while you have the chance.  We don't know how long we'll be here or if we'll pass this way again so we're going to make the most of it while we can.  Matt has made it through the construction phase and has a bit more time and flexibility.  It seems it was forever that he was working six day weeks without much time for seeing the sights or stopping to smell the roses.  Now that works slowed down a bit I plan on keeping him very busy.

My to visit list included the National Apple Harvest Festival in Arndestville, PA.  In case you r wanting to mark your calendar it is held each year the first and second full weekends in October.

Hannah was spending time with a friend who was celebrating her birthday so she missed out on our most excellent adventure.  We won't let her  miss out next time.

It was a beautiful day and we weren't the only ones who noticed.  The festival grounds were packed wall to wall with people.  It was worth it.  We enjoyed some great pit beef sandwiches and fresh apple cider.  The nice thing about not having an agenda is just going with the flow and not needing to make more of the day than is needful.

But this is what we drove out for.

I was quite impressed with the pit bosses.  They were willing to share their techniques and expertise. Matt was able to find out how to's and I'm looking forward to his trying it out.

We missed the tractor square dancing.  Maybe next year.

It can't get any fresher than this.
